The Silver Vault Gallery, Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art

The contours of a spectacular silver collection are brilliantly highlighted in a new gallery housed within an important 1915 Beaux-Arts gem of a museum. An historic vault was transformed into a classical groin vaulted space and lined with newly created bronze cases. Concealed soft illumination brushes across the vaulted ceiling creating an even glow that provides ambient light. Linear luminaires concealed within the structure of the cases highlight the silver objects. The visitor enters this jewel-like gallery to see important silver objects glimmer as if by magic.
